There are many reasons that granite countertops are among the hottest high-end options for the kitchen or bathroom. Their popularity seems to have staying power - and may be growing - as new granite countertop options are made available for home remodeling.
Granite is Tough & Durable
Granite is rock hard, literally. It's second only to diamond in terms of the hardness of natural materials. When properly installed, it will be the last countertop you will ever need. If you decide to replace it down the road, it will be because you want to, not because you have to. It resists chipping, scratching and cracking. If fact, you'll ruin your knife before you damage your granite countertop if you decide to use it as a cutting surface. One thing to remember is that granite does not flex so it's very important that the cabinets on which we place the granite are level. Because of its hardness, granite counters are also heat resistant. With that being said, we do not recommend setting a hot pan directly on the countertop surface for an extended amount of time. On the rare occasion that you manage to chip or crack the granite, let us know and we will come out and assess the damage.
